About Us

Stilmoor Gordon Setters was founded in 1990 with the acquisition of our first stud dog, Ch. Stilmeadows Old Dan Tucker, JH, WD. Stilmoor Gordon Setters are a continuation of the Stilmeadows Gordon Setter line bred by the late Dee Gidday for over 30 years. For a look back at the Stilmeadows line, click on the photo below or go to the 'Our Past' tab in the drop down menu of this page.

The Gordon Setter was bred to be a solid, hard-working upland bird dog. At Stilmoor, our goal is to continue this tradition by selectively breeding for health, type and temperament. Our Gordon Setters are examined by veterinarians for hip dysplasia. The results of this examination are further reviewed and certified by the Orthopedic Foundation of America (OFA). At regular intervals, we have our Gordons examined by a board certified ophthalmologist for potential eye diseases. These results are registered with the Canine Eye Registration Foundation (CERF). Dogs not passing these primary health criteria are not considered in our breeding program. To date, all of our Gordon Setters have passed these examinations with flying colors!

Our goal is to produce happy, healthy Gordons in keeping with the job they were originally bred to do.

We invite you to browse our website and get acquainted with our dogs. Several pages are under construction so please come back often!
